Wolf
enthusiast and conservationist Anneka Svenska is a modern 21st century
Wildlife Warrior & Green Goddess of UK TV. Anneka has drawn much of
her inspiration off her mum's late partner Ben Metcalfe, who was one of
the original Greenpeace founders.
Having
worked in tandem alongside animals and the television industry all her
life, Anneka provides the perfect package comprising of TV expertise
and genuine passion combined with an incredible animal and
environmental knowledge.
Anneka
has appeared as a dog expert, scuba diver and animal handler in many
well known British terrestrial shows, as well as appearing in well
loved programmes such as EastEnders, The Generation Game, It’s the Dog
or Me, Steve Irwin a Tribute, The Rory Bremner Show, TFI Friday and her
own grown top Channel 5 movie show outTHERE. Anneka grew up
surrounded by animals and was working with the RSPCA by the age of 5.
By the age of 15 Anneka had already saved numerous animals and her
house became a haven for all manner of adopted and saved creatures.
Anneka started to train as a vet, but pulled the ropes on this career
due to her being too 'soft-hearted' to be able to euthanize animals.
Anneka decided instead to focus all of her animal saving efforts into
TV and conservation instead. Anneka excelled at High School
and achieved 4 A levels, 10 GCSE's followed by a 2:1 Hons degree in TV
& Environmental Studies. This was followed by a post graduate
diploma at the well respected Guildford School of acting before she
embarking on a highly successful TV career. Anneka decided to
train as a fully qualified RSA Aerobic Instructor, American Red Cross
Beach Lifeguard, RLSS UK Lifeguard and PADI diver in order to perfect
her expertise for travel and adventure. She works regularly with wolves
at many of the UK wolf conservation centres, in particular The UK Wolf
Conservation Trust at Reading, as well as advising owners on dog
handling methods and marine fish care. Anneka is a celebrity supporter
for many animal charities including VIVA (Vegetarians Voice for
Animals), PETA, Born Free, WSPA and Battersea Dogs Home and has
appeared alongside wonderful personalities such as Joanna Lumley and
Paul McCartney in many of their campaigns and videos. Anneka
is a staunch vegetarian and grows a great deal of her family's food in
her eco friendly paradise in the back garden of her London townhouse.
Here Anneka has created a green haven for tropical plants, birds and
wildlife as well as an area for composting and growing organic
vegetables.
Anneka
writes for many of the top animals and dog magazines on a regular basis
due to her alpha-dog expertise and also advises on eco friendly
alternatives to modern day living and eco friendly food.
